Quick tips for screaming?
Is there a way to stop a conure from screaming? As I posted earlier, I replaced kiwi (Pionus) with a conure... and then I replaced that one with a quieter one.
I really wanted to keep the first conure I got. It took to me instantly, jumped on my shoulder and played with my chain (though he got a bit nasty when I stopped him). The reson I got rid of him is because whenever he was in his cage, he'd scream and scream and before too long, my dad made me swap him :( (I live in his house so I can't really argue). I really wanted to try and find a way to stop the screaming before I replaced him, but he wouldn't let me.
I was hoping, if there are some tips out there that you could throw my way, I could convince my dad to get him back.
The screaming is definatly an attention thing, when he is locked up in his cage. My dad put the night blanket on him to try and calm him down but that just made things 10 times worse.
This baby one I have now is cute, but the last one really took to me and think that if you find a connection with a bird like that, you've found the one for you.

RE: Quick tips for screaming?
Conures are line of sight screamers. If they can see you they generally won't scream for you. Out of the cage on a bird boing on a hanger, that can be moved from room to room generally calms or stops this stuff.
They are super interactive little birds, and want to be interacted with. They don't want to be "left behind" in a cage "doing life" in solitary confinement.
In the Aviary: One CAG, Three Conures, Two Macaws, Two Amazons.

RE: Quick tips for screaming?
considering you live with youre dad may i suggest wait until youre out on youre own before getting another bird.. its not fair to the birds that they keep loosing a home. and apparently youre dad needs no offense needs to takea bird class before buying or getting another parrot. mean time just try to teach this one to play on his own and when its begining to be daylight they will scream nothing you can do even at dusky they will scream , just go in and talk to it hold it and play with it until it settles down good luck
birds love unconditional. so treasure every minute with them...
