Mark is taking Woody ,
this was the hardest decission, dont get me wrong i love woody to peices , hes my freind , he and i are very bonded , and the decission had to come , woody and my husband just arent getting along ever , so i had to make a decission , woody will be going to live with mark, ive seen how woody and mark interact , woody is great with mark, i also feel this is a opportunity for woody to shine in his life , to become the maginfincet macaw he is , a life that woody can have with lots of love , believe me its not because i dont love woody . i know woody is easily trained as he does things for me , and he only has to be taught twice and he picks it up , the only bad habbit mark will have to break him off is calling mamma , i didnt teach woody that , woody did that on his own . i hope woody understands that im not doing this to be mean, im doing it for the best interest of him. i pray woody forgives me , and i pray wood never forgets me , so i have two weeks with my woody boy , to love and to cherrish him before he leaves , and i know mark would take good care of woody, as woody is a specail intellegent bird, so if you hear about woody and mark you all now know what is happening, and some of the reasons ,
but mark knows the whole reason and the whole thing , anyway there is the update . woody will show his true beauty and his true love for life with mark, he needs that . he needs to spread his wings and grow as macaw should ,
birds love unconditional. so treasure every minute with them...

RE: Mark is taking Woody ,
I have a friend who breeds Hys. And it just so happens that she just upgraded her Hyacinth cage to stainless steel.
Now, she has a used Hyacinth aviary cage she wants to get rid of. Do I know anyone who is interested?! Well, YEAH!!! GIMME IT!!!
http://www.kingscages.com/ProductDetails...ductID=507
This will be Woody's new palace. If it housed two Hys comfortably, it ought to make a nice new home for Woody...
So, in some ways, this is a harmonic convergence. It seems like this is somehow meant to happen...
And of course, I am a macaw addict.
Suddenly we are right back up to five birds again...
3 macaws, two amazons, and a slightly species confused gray.
In the Aviary: One CAG, Three Conures, Two Macaws, Two Amazons.

RE: Mark is taking Woody ,
the only thing is the locks , i know woody too well it wont take him long to get those open lol , im lucky , he doesnt open the doors , however he knows how to take the grates out of his cage and he knows how to push the bottom pans out and get out that way ive seen him do it here , he smart hes not dumb and he will do it right behind youre back and laugh. but thats woody sense of humor, hes specail and he very very good , he will think he gones to heaven its bigger then what he has now , dont worry for the next two weeks he and i will be having our peanut butter nights , he likes either chunky or creamy he dont care as long as it on a spoon, and in moms lap hes happy , i dont say something i dont mean as you can tell. woody will be happy no doubt but i also know he will be confused for a while , so please forgive him if he screams momma ,, that is just woody ,

RE: Mark is taking Woody ,
I'm going to structure his routine when he gets here. He'll hit the ground running...
My biggest concern would be a certain other bird who is never caged running around on top of that cage, which will probably be the tallest cage in the birdroom now. We don't want Sally losing any toes! So I'm going to move things around, and try to figure out a way to make sure she won't perch on top of that particular cage. I'm quite fond of all her little toes...
And yeah, I hate Kings' locks. I'm going to need a padlock, or something similar. The bottom tray locks down.

this was not a easy decission trust me ive been crying , but not allowing woody to go would be selfish on my part , hes happy with mark i see that but he is also happy with me , just not my husband , woody is my sweet boy macaw , and im going to miss him to peices and its going to be lonely here with out my macaw calling mamma but the decission has been made and woody will go to mark with the conditons if mark comes to a point he cant or dont want woody or something happens woodys comes home to me, i know woody is going to shine and i know woody is going to show mark what kind of macaw he is , and that in itself is the best reward of allowing woody to move on in his life ,

That's why I said five. (3 macs, 2 zons, and a CAG is six. But one hasn't arrived yet.)
I've had an egg deposit down on a blue throat/2nd RFM (it seems to change weekly) for about 3 years now, I just didn't have the time or the room for the new mac. And then Sweepea bonded with Tusk, so I questioned whether the new one was something I should do... and I put that on hold. That would destroy what is presently a very good flock dynamic. My concern is that Tusk would suddenly find himself outnumbered and undersized and it would not be good for him at all...
And now the second RFM/BTM may actually eventually turn into a 2nd GW mac, if Woody gets to the point where he needs a buddy bird.
We're hoping Sally bonds with the new BFA. That would be ideal. Tusk and Sweepea keep their buddy/buddy thing going. Sally gets a buddy. Then, maybe we get a buddy for Woody... and everyone has another bird to keep them company 24/7... which is ideal. And takes a considerable amount of the workload off me.
So, the other mac is an egg deposit. And I have the cage space now, I just don't know if I'm staying put or moving in the next year or so, so I will wait until that is settled before "cashing it in."
It's been on hold for 3 years already, what's another year?!
I've decided, since all my birds are now big birds, that I will not get any more conures in the near future. Simply because it would not be fair to them. I'm afraid they would get bullied surrounded by so many larger birds...
So, three macs, two amazons, and a CAG. AND THAT'S IT! That pretty much is a full time job right there...
this was not a easy decission trust me ive been crying , but not allowing woody to go would be selfish on my part , hes happy with mark i see that but he is also happy with me , just not my husband , woody is my sweet boy macaw , and im going to miss him to peices and its going to be lonely here with out my macaw calling mamma but the decission has been made and woody will go to mark with the conditons if mark comes to a point he cant or dont want woody or something happens woodys comes home to me, i know woody is going to shine and i know woody is going to show mark what kind of macaw he is , and that in itself is the best reward of allowing woody to move on in his life ,
Fortunately, the latches and trays lock into place with a hard to reach latch, so no worries there. And if he figures out the latches then we zip tie, chain, lock and/or quick link it in place. (Like a macaw can't chew through zip ties or open quick links either!)
Woody won't be bored at my place. And the best part is I can give him a lot more out time at this point... And in that cage, in time will be close to out time anyway...
He's going to get out and about training almost immediately. He's not going to be a stay at home bird at all.

RE: Mark is taking Woody ,

That was my big surprise from Rachel.
When Pecker died I was simply devistated, and almost inconsolable for about a week. Without telling me she was doing this, she put down an egg deposit on a new baby BFA. When my other three died, and I was again, just crushed, she let me in on what was going to be her big surprise. She's hand feeding them. They hatched 5 days ago. We're waiting to see if one of them is a female. Baby ZOWIE, pronounced ZOW-EEE (I think) I haven't quite decided on the name...
Aside from sending me Tusk... A few years ago, she quite literally saved Christmas for me and Sarah. Now this! With all that's going on with her and her mom, and her business, and all the other stuff she's got going on - she's simply an amazing person!

They finally got one right!
SUSPECTED TERRORIST...

Woody has been home since Saturday. He is very much Sarah's baby...
He's a very mushy macaw, and he pretty much already thinks he owns the place. I'd post pics, but as usual, this thing won't let me...
