Hey guys. We have added a new face to the flock. His name is Toby and he is a 7 year old Catalina Macaw. He is from the parrot rescue we volunteer for. He has actually been with another volunteer for the past 3 years, but she was no longer able to keep him so he is living with us. I'm pretty sure he is a permanent resident! I love him to pieces. He and Zak (B&G) are starting to become perch buddies so that is great too! He is originally from a family who got him as a baby. When he started to mature they became afraid of him. He got stuck in his cage and began to scream all the time. So, what did they do? They put him in their basement under 10 comforters! This went on for a year. The poor thing had no tail from trying to look out the bottom of his cage to see light. Ugh. Anyhow, he is awesome! We went to do a presentation for a Girl Scout troop today and he was going to the girls and sitting on them. He also gives the best kisses! haha. Here are a couple pictures of him.
