Yesterday I was playing some music while I had the birds out. Darcy was being really loud so I turned around to see what was going on. Much to my surprise she was dancing. She was sort of doing the head bob, but with her whole body, like birdie pogo-ing. Cutest thing I've ever seen! The song she liked so much was Bad Romance from Lady Gaga, lol. Do any of your fids have a favorite song?

Hello All !

I've been away for so long, I don't know if you guys still remember me. Its nice to see that some of the Oldies are still here ! It was so good to see those names in the threads...

First of all I gotta say, its so nostalgic to be back here ! ! ! Man, I missed this forum... but ever since the whole leaving-Romeo-behind episode, it was just painful to come here.

For those who don't know the story:

http://parrotalk.net/showthread.php?tid=733

Anyway, it has been 3 years since I moved from Pakistan and had to leave Romeo my Grey behind. I never thought I'd say that - but the pain is much less now. I have come to terms with the whole situation. It had been ages, but I felt like coming back and giving you guys an update.

After I left, Romeo had to switch Foster-Parents, he used to be with my maternal cousins, but due to them having to move - he is now with my paternal cousins. He has been with them for almost 2years now - and I'm happy to report, is doing awesome.

I am so happy that he is with people that treat him right, and are aware of the bond I have with Romeo. I get updates about him, and now and then I even get picture updates :). Will share some soon.

How are you all doing ? Its nice so nice to post here again. :)

It seems like she started right after I put some paper on top of her grate as opposed to underneath. I can't believe something like that could trigger a stress behavior like this..
has something this insignificant caused plucking before? This is the only thing I've changed with her recently...

it's a good move, and major prestige with a major pay raise, but yikes. i am tired of moving!

Hey guys. We have added a new face to the flock. His name is Toby and he is a 7 year old Catalina Macaw. He is from the parrot rescue we volunteer for. He has actually been with another volunteer for the past 3 years, but she was no longer able to keep him so he is living with us. I'm pretty sure he is a permanent resident! I love him to pieces. He and Zak (B&G) are starting to become perch buddies so that is great too! He is originally from a family who got him as a baby. When he started to mature they became afraid of him. He got stuck in his cage and began to scream all the time. So, what did they do? They put him in their basement under 10 comforters! This went on for a year. The poor thing had no tail from trying to look out the bottom of his cage to see light. Ugh. Anyhow, he is awesome! We went to do a presentation for a Girl Scout troop today and he was going to the girls and sitting on them. He also gives the best kisses! haha. Here are a couple pictures of him.

I dont seem to get on here any more, life has become to hectic, to much stress and too many worries I suppose.

We are now facing an exciting, heartbreaking unpleasant adventure ... sounds odd doesnt it ? how can something be exciting but unpleasant ? How can an adventure be heartbreaking ?

We are immigrating , the crime, corruption and living in fear has become too much for Hubs and I , we took a chance and tentativly made enquires based on his skills for immigration purposes and found out we qualify for New Zealand and Australia, The Australian agent we are workin with is now looking for sponsors, my hubby fortunately has a rather unique agricultural mechanical skill set that makes him very marketable.

The unpleasant part of this is my animals , we are starting to try and rehome now , my colleauge at work wants our entire flock of parrots , she is parrot mad and they will have a good home. She is already visiting everyweek and startig the bonding process, her own crew have their own room , she has an illiger, eclectes and two cockatoos .

Miki and MOnty They are too old to put through 7 months of quarantine , and MIki has an awkward temprement an is suffering with hip dysplasia, we have decided she will be PTS , my daughter in Senegal wants Monty , but thats difficult as well, he will go from beinga farm dog to an apartment dog at the age of 10 im not happy bt still thinking about it , I have contacted rescue to see if anyone would be prepared to give an old snuggle bug a home .... trouble is they would virtually have to have police clearance and family history detail before I would allow anyone to take him.

Im trying to rehome my youger cats , but if I cant then they will also all be pts , im not sendin anyone to a shelter.

ughhh :(

I have missed you guys! I've noticed that it has been slow on the forrum, I haven't been checking for eons and unfortunately what has been posted has been saddening :-(

Just to gabber, I've gotten a new quaker "KiKi" in hopes that she'll be buds with Willy... so far.. well, I think it's a no go. They tolerate eachother and stand beside eachother, but thats about it.

Emma on the other hand, she is quite the handful! She now chases the cats and dog sounding identicle to an angry cat "RAR RAR RAR RAR HISSSSS". I can even ask her "what an angry cat does" and she'll reply with the angry cat noises. She also does "baby cat" and just "cat". Something with her and cats... I really do have to try and get a video, it's pretty funny. My puppy on the other hand, loves to try and play with Emma and is her personal garborater (sp). It's crazy to think she'll be 3 in a couple months!

I've started showing dogs again with Rio my pup and he did surprisingly well in the Junior puppy class last month. I'm addicted, so much fun!

Anyways, I was actually thinking of building a new PVC stand at some point, anybody taken on a project of sorts lately?

I'd love to hear from the rest of you how things are going, news etc.

it was a nice visit , and thanks for working with woody again , however as we figured out woody and my husband will never see eye to eye , as you know why,. woody was really good with mark was laying on his back playing , kissing mark , having a ball even with me in the room he did want his momma but not as bad as it was before ,, however woody and my husband must stay away from one another as they are not compable no matter what we try this just wont work , i hope that next time tusk and the other can come to play as well mean time i fell inlove with sally bird she is the sweetest most kindest amazon i got my hair preened and there is just one set of birds she dont like , and that is the ring necks we have no clue why , again like mark said it could be jealousy with her . who knows she was adoll either way , it was a pleasure playing with her and i even gave kissess , now my amazons well lets just say boys fighting for a girls attention yep all wanted to be the top male bird with sally .

i didnt mention anything because im too tired , we lost my male love bird on feb 5 th even though we had found a cute female who we named olive . well apparently two days before gins death he and olive had done the boom boom , and she laid a egg, well she waas not sitting on it and because i didnt want any more baby green cheeks , i really honestly did not think the egg was vital so i gave it to rose andbarney to sit on, well guess what the lovebird egg hatched it was the only real egg in the nest ,, and so we now have a new baby lovebird who is being fostered by two green cheeks go figure but rose really thinks its her egg since she sat on it the entire time , the baby must have been born early morning , its doing good right now so if it makes it in 8 weeks the orginal mom will have a freind her own child back with her and i have a precious gift from my gin gin male , if by change rose doesnt take care of it i will send the baby to my moms for hand feedings , with my dusky C.B who is there now being hand feed. we named the baby MARTINI get it olive and gin makes a martini lol let you all know as the days go by if and what is happening with baby martini

Was asked to do a shoot for my favorite parrot store here in my area. This is a very unique situation for me in the terms that I will be working with two different types of greys ... this guys is a Cameroon Grey and to my understanding they are significantly larger than their Southern Counterparts ....

[attachment=1075]

This "little" guy weighs in at over 400 g and is still so young that he doesn't know how to "step-up" and still is really uncomfortable perching (unsteady and unsure of himself).

Next week I get to work with a very rare RED African Grey (I am not sure that how I feel about these genetic mutations) and we are hoping to get the images and story into a future copy of Bird Talk.
